Galeria Perdana was opened in 1995, a museum to exhibit and display various gifts, awards and souvenirs the former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad and his wife received.
These gifts were given by world leaders, statesmen, even Malaysians during his tenure. There are total 9000 pieces gifts, however, only 2000 gifts are displayed at a time and changed in rotation so that visitors will see different set of collections.
There are three sections in the museum, and they are interconnected:
- Block A
Exhibits gifts made of wood, leather, crystal and lacquer, as well as musical instruments and stone objects.
- Block B
Exhibits textiles, games, weaponry, ceramics, plaques and Islamic art. There are also gifts of silver, copper, brass and pewter.
- Block C
Exhibits jewelry, paintings and collections of car and bicycles.
